This was a personal project. In 2007, I started the StreetCrawl project. I attached a 360 degree camera to the roof of my car and travelled around getting photography. The photography was then sent (post production) to the StreetCrawl website, which allowed you to view the imagery in the same vein as Google’s Street View. When Google launched their version of the product the same year I decided to scrap the project.
In early 2014 (for personal gratification purposes) I decided I would write the software using their imagery and custom markers. Allowing users to comment on markers, add historic memories, etc.
Since deploying the project, it gained little traction, but I had great fun in developing the solution.
